About Bloomfield House

A family’s calling,
a life’s work

Family-founded in 2006. Actively led by the same family today. One home, one unwavering commitment to memory care done right.

Our Story

Twenty years in the making
and still growing.

Bloomfield House was founded by Helen Tea and Lim Ung in 2006 — Helen bringing an intensely caring heart and hands-on dedication to run the home day to day, and Lim providing the operational backbone behind the scenes.

From the beginning, Bloomfield House was purpose-built for memory care — not a general assisted living facility that added a memory unit, but a home designed from the ground up for residents living with dementia and complex neurological conditions.

Their son David grew up inside these walls. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude in Biochemistry, earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and specialize in neurological rehabilitation across outpatient, inpatient, and ICU settings.

When Helen and Lim began considering retirement, David stepped in as Chief Operating Officer — combining his love for patient care with a passion for leadership, and building on the foundation his parents spent 20 years creating.

“The standard we hold ourselves to flows from one core belief: there had to be a better way to care for our elders with dementia.”

Helen Tea

CO-FOUNDER

Helen opened Bloomfield House in 2006 with a simple conviction: that every elder deserves to be cared for the way she would care for her own family. For nearly two decades she was the heartbeat of the home — present and hands-on in ways no corporate operator could match.

Lim Ung

CO-FOUNDER

Lim built the operational infrastructure that allowed Bloomfield House to thrive for over 20 years. He brought discipline, systems thinking, and a genuine love for people to the business side — licensing, hiring, and the behind-the-scenes functions families never see but always benefit from.

David Ung, PT, DPT

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

David grew up at Bloomfield House — spending summers painting walls and learning the business alongside his parents. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and specialized in neurological rehabilitation at USC, treating patients with strokes, Parkinson’s, and complex neurological conditions. When his parents began transitioning toward retirement, he chose to bring that clinical expertise home. It was not a career change. It was a homecoming.

“Honoring elders isn’t a brand statement for us. It’s who we are, shaped by where we came from and what we’ve dedicated our careers to.”

— HELEN TEA & LIM UNG, CO-FOUNDERS

Our founders were raised in a culture where caring for the elderly is a sacred responsibility — not an obligation, but an honor. Combined with decades of professional healthcare experience, this conviction shapes every decision we make.

That’s why Bloomfield House exists. Not because it was a business opportunity, but because our founders believed — and still believe — that there had to be a better way to honor the people who built our families and communities.
